Virgin Electronics' Mini-Sized 5GB MP3 Player Arrives at Best Buy
Business Wire, Dec 8, 2004
SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Virgin Player 5GB Fills Holiday Stockings with Built-in FM Tuner and 25% More Storage Than Leading Mini-Sized Player
Virgin Electronics has beaten Santa's workshop to the punch with this holiday season's hottest gift, the Virgin Player 5GB. Now available at Best Buy stores nationwide, the Virgin Player is a sleek hard-drive-based digital audio player weighing in at just 3.1 ounces. Holiday shoppers will love that the $249 Virgin Player 5GB packs 25 percent more storage than the leading mini-sized player and sports a built-in FM tuner for listening to NPR or a favorite shock jock.
The Virgin Player is one of the only digital audio players that's truly easy to use. For example, the Virgin Player has dedicated buttons for the activities consumers do most -- changing the volume, skipping to the next song, or pausing the music. The product also includes the patent-pending "Virgin DJ," which, in just two button presses, conveniently creates playlists from a customer's music collection in ways they couldn't before.
"The Virgin Player 5GB is like no other mini-sized MP3 player on the market. For $249, consumers get 25 percent more storage, an FM tuner, dual headphone jacks and top-notch ease-of-use," said Joe Sipher, vice president of marketing at Virgin Electronics. "Now that the Virgin Player is in Best Buy stores across the nation, holiday shoppers can see the best-valued mini-sized MP3 player for themselves."
Best Buy stores reach an estimated 300 million consumers per year in 48 states and online at www.bestbuy.com. The Virgin Player 5GB is also available at Virgin Megastores nationwide and at www.virgin.com/electronics.
