Quest Software Maximizes the Performance and Availability of Oracle E-Business Suite Applications
Business Wire, Dec 8, 2004
SAN FRANCISCO -- New Quest Solutions for Oracle E-Business Empower IT with Deep Platform Expertise to Enhance Application Performance, Code Quality and Change Management
At Oracle OpenWorld, Quest Software Inc. (Nasdaq:QSFT), a leading provider of application, database and Windows management solutions, today announced enhanced support for Oracle E-Business Suite applications through its Oracle database and application management products. Quest Software complements the Oracle platform by providing innovative technology that optimizes the performance and maintains the availability of Oracle E-Business Suite applications so that IT can plan, predict and control end user service levels. This extended Oracle E-Business Suite support leverages Quest's strategic approach for high performance (see related announcements dated today).
"To communicate with business managers, IT organizations need tools that deliver business-relevant data regarding the availability, performance, user experience and service levels being delivered throughout the IT infrastructure," said Tim Grieser, program vice president, IDC, Inc.
Enhanced Performance and Availability
With the release of version 5.0 of Quest Central(R) for Oracle, an integrated set of tools designed for DBAs and application administrators who need to proactively improve the performance and availability of databases, Quest Software delivers integrated performance management and analysis and proactive SQL Tuning for Oracle E-Business Suite customers. This enables database and application administrators to discover, correlate and report on Oracle E-Business Suite metrics to enhance performance. Quest Central for Oracle 5.0 significantly reduces maintenance costs and greatly enhances DBA productivity by allowing them to rapidly identify bottlenecks, anomalies and application trends; then easily drill down into SQL statements, users, programs, machines or files, to quickly resolve specific issues.
Working in conjunction with Quest Central is Quest Software's Foglight(R) for Oracle E-Business. Foglight observes service level availability and provides application component-level and infrastructure monitoring. Unlike traditional monitoring tools, Foglight maps business objectives to both system and application-specific performance information across every tier of the application stack, ensuring all components are running and the user and Concurrent Manager workload is managed appropriately. By continually metering the experience of the end-users and the performance of the application components, Foglight provides IT managers with a complete picture of their application.
Code Quality and Optimization for Faster-Running Applications
Quest Toad(R) for Oracle, considered the de facto standard for database development and administration among the Oracle community, includes a built-in knowledge base that enables application developers and DBAs to quickly develop code and database structure to extend Oracle E-Business Suite applications. With integrated SQL Tuning, Toad for Oracle enables developers to proactively tune SQL code as they write it, eliminating expensive cycles caused by poor performing SQL code in production. The result is significant improvements in application performance and faster time to implementation because Toad eliminates bottlenecks caused by un-optimized, SQL before the application is migrated to production.
Change Management with Personalized Views
The latest version of Stat(R) Application Change Management (ACM) delivers a new, highly configurable Web interface that gives users improved access to Oracle E-Business Suite information that is required for change and patch management. This allows users to personalize their view of application change processes, resulting in faster and more efficient implementations of upgrades and changes that contribute to revenue generation, cost saving measures and regulatory compliance business initiatives. Stat ACM also now has new integrated change management capabilities and process controls specifically for Oracle E-Business Suite applications. These include object locking, archiving and migration support to improve the coordination between IT teams that are involved in managing application changes.
"We are proud to deliver essential solutions to ensure that IT processes run smoothly and that applications remain available and performing at optimal levels," said John Spirko, director of product management, ERP management solutions, Quest Software. "By incorporating domain-specific expertise into our solutions, Quest is uniquely positioned to solve highly complicated performance issues within every tier of the application stack as well as databases and infrastructure to maintain optimal end user service levels."
