iMotient Solutions Simplifies Wireless Data Over Multiple Networks
Business Wire, Dec 8, 2004
LINCOLNSHIRE, Ill. -- Motient Communications, Inc. today announced the launch of iMotient Solutions(TM) for the wireless data market. iMotient Solutions is an end-to-end combination of services that reduces the complexity, difficulty and cost of running wireless data applications. iMotient Solutions allows customers and partners to use multiple networks including GPRS, 1XRTT, DataTAC(R) with a single interconnection to Motient. With iMotient Solutions, customers benefit from Motient's proprietary applications that reduce airtime usage, improve performance and reduce the cost of operating their wireless data applications.
"Having operated in this space for 15 years, we know first hand how hard it is to develop, install and maintain a wireless data application. Early on, we began partnering with applications providers, equipment vendors, value added resellers and integrators to develop solutions that were not only certified and performed well, but were also cost effective to install and more importantly cost effective to maintain. This required a solutions-oriented approach that has made us an industry leader today," said Christopher Downie, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Motient Corporation.
iMotient Solutions' multi-network approach allows partners and customers to run applications over a variety of wireless networks with a single interconnection to Motient. "This is something applications developers, equipment manufacturers and customers have been asking for, for a long time," added Christopher Downie. "Having the ability to mix and match networks, provide dual-modem options, and enhance the overall coverage capabilities of our service is a real benefit that is expensive and very difficult to replicate in the market today."
With iMotient Solutions, Motient is the One Source alternative for development, technical and network support, device management and billing across all networks. "Customers and partners love that they have one number to call to get problems resolved, and one easy to understand bill for all devices across all networks," said Deb Peterson, Vice President, Systems Engineering and Solutions for Motient Corporation. "Motient is long recognized as a company that knows the data environment and will go the extra mile for the customer. This is another way we plan to continue along that path."
