First American Deploys Citrix Access Infrastructure to Support Company Growth without Growing IT Costs
Business Wire, Dec 9, 2004
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- By Centralizing Applications, a Three-Person IT Team Rolls Out Mobile Access While Also Decreasing the IT Workload
Citrix Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq:CTXS), the global leader in access infrastructure solutions, today announced that First American Equipment Finance, an equipment leasing and financing company, is using Citrix(R) MetaFrame(R) Presentation Server to support its expanding employee base on both coasts with on-demand access to corporate applications and information. Without adding staff or leaving its New York headquarters, First American's IT team can now deploy applications -- like the latest lease finance software, and Web-based applications - in one fast step to centralized servers that provide instant, secure and mobile access to all employees.
Inc. magazine listed First American Equipment Finance as one of the fastest-growing small businesses in the U.S. This robust growth challenged the company's IT staff to support an increasing number of employees. Individually managing each desktop became more difficult, especially since the IT team is located in New York while half of the firm's employees are located on the west coast. To help maintain the high levels of service its customers expect, the IT team wanted to provide First American's growing base of employees with secure, rapid access to the newest versions of business applications.
Citrix provided the ideal solution. With Citrix MetaFrame Presentation Server, First American saves IT time and money by allowing the New York based IT staff to implement applications just once through a central data center rather than loading applications on each individual desktop. The Citrix solution enables the IT staff to set up, maintain and upgrade as many applications as necessary nationwide, without traveling, while employees have secure access to all of the company's real-time information. To date, First American has deployed more than 30 applications through MetaFrame Presentation Server, including a highly customized, CRM system from FrontRange Solutions, Microsoft Office, and various lease management software packages.
"Our customers are the focus of everything we do," said Sean Miller, vice president of information technology. "Our employees need state-of-the-art technology to handle our rapidly expanding client base and maintain our reputation for outstanding service. Citrix will continue to help us grow over the next five years with minimal additional IT infrastructure investment. Citrix allows us to control our total cost of ownership from an infrastructure and headcount standpoint. The Presentation Server product helps us simplify an incredibly expensive and laborious process to upgrade and maintain software packages across the entire enterprise. Perhaps most importantly, the Citrix solution provides capabilities not available with any other solution."
The foundation of the Citrix MetaFrame Access Suite, Citrix MetaFrame Presentation Server is the world's most widely deployed presentation server for centrally managing heterogeneous applications and delivering access to them as a service to workers, wherever they are, and to whatever computing device they use. MetaFrame Presentation Server runs on Microsoft(R) Windows Server(TM) 2003, Windows(R) 2000 Server, and a variety of UNIX(R) operating systems, supporting virtually any custom or commercially-packaged Windows, Web, or UNIX application. MetaFrame Presentation Server provides an exceptional foundation on which to build highly-scalable, flexible, secure, manageable access solutions that reduce computing costs and increase the utility of any information system.
