Collin County Community College Selects Centra's Virtual Classroom Application to Enhance Distance Learning Program

Centra Software, Inc. (NASDAQ: CTRA) today announced that Collin County Community College District (CCCCD), a growing suburban multi-community college campus in Texas, has deployed Centra's real-time virtual classroom application to augment its distance education program and services, beginning with classes in the 2003 fall semester.

"It was important for us to select a user-friendly virtual classroom technology that could accommodate both low- and high-end access to the Internet," said Kathrine Swanson, associate dean of students. "We also wanted to leverage voice-over-IP technology. Centra's product met all of our needs, and was a stand out among the offerings we looked at."

Swanson estimates that approximately 25-30 faculty and staff members will be delivering Centra-powered online courses, seminars and programs by spring 2004, with a goal of reaching up to 2,000 students - which comprises the entire distance education population.

Centra was brought in to CCCCD through a technology grant from the State of Texas, and will help the college enhance student services in a number of areas outside of distance education.

"We plan to bring a number of programs online with Centra as part of the grant, including career seminars, tutoring, academic advising and teacher prep programs for professional development," said Swanson.
