CableLabs awarded the qualification to General Bandwidth in Certification Wave 29 based on the G6 platform's compliance with the PacketCable 1.0 specifications for media gateways including interoperability with other PacketCable-certified elements. Designed as a carrier class, standards-based media gateway, the G6 platform is deployed by some of the largest North American service providers as a circuit-to-packet interface between the PSTN and packet voice networks. The G6 platform is currently being trialed and deployed by leading cable operators for cable telephony roll-outs in 2004 and 2005.
