NASA Chooses Cams Web Single Sign-on and Access Management Solution for the International Space Station

Business Wire, July 14, 2004

SAN DIEGO -- Cafesoft, a leading provider of Web single sign-on and access management solutions, today announced that Cafesoft's Cams(TM) Web single sign-on and access management product was chosen for NASA's International Space Station (ISS) project. The International Space Station, or ISS, represents a global partnership of 16 nations. NASA Johnson Space Center (JSC) hosts the ground operations that provide primary support services for ISS, including computing services to a worldwide community of over 5,000 active users.

ISS purchased Cafesoft Cams and Cams Identity to manage and audit user access. When fully implemented, all Web resources at ISS will be accessed through Cams, which provides Web single sign-on, user access control, and a security audit trail. Access to some resources will be secured for authenticated users as well as the user's country of origin.

ISS is configuring authentication by stacking Cams login modules for multiple Microsoft Active Directory servers and the Sun Java System Directory LDAP Server, a feature unique to Cams. Stacking Cams login modules enables a user to authenticate against any number of user directories with flexible success and fail dependencies between the directories. Another Cams component in use at ISS is Cams Identity, which provides user account self-registration and update, password reset, and administrator management of user accounts.

"NASA's International Space Station is a tremendous achievement of human ingenuity and cooperation," said Gary Gwin, Cafesoft president and CEO. "After doing a careful evaluation, NASA found Cams to have a uniquely flexible architecture, broad support for Web and application servers, and an affordable price. We are proud to have Cams become an integral part of the infrastructure that secures Web access for the worldwide ISS user community."

Cafesoft develops and markets Cams, which is secure, flexible and affordable Web single sign-on and access management software. Businesses around the world use Cams to give employees, customers, and partners secure access to Web resources and applications. By using Cams, customers: 1) improve time-to-market; 2) reduce development, support, and training costs; 3) enable secure business relationships; 4) improve security compliance and accountability; and, 5) simplify security implementation and management. With headquarters in San Diego, Cafesoft is a private company founded in March 1996. More information can be found at http://www.cafesoft.com.
