Business Wire, July 15, 2004

LOS ANGELES -- Dermot McQuarrie has been named Senior Vice President and Assistant General Manager for Fox Sports International. In his new position, he will assume greater day-to-day operational responsibility for Fox Sports World, while continuing with his present role as Executive Producer and head of programming for Fox Sports en Espanol, Fox Sports World and Fox Sports Latin America. McQuarrie, who had previously served as Vice President of Programming for Fox Sports International, continues to report to David Sternberg, Executive Vice President of Emerging Networks for Fox Cable Networks and General Manager of Fox Sports International. McQuarrie's promotion coincides with his celebrating 35 years in the sports television business.

"The common denominator among senior managers at our special-interest networks is they each genuinely reflect the enthusiasm, passions and demands of the channels' target audiences," said Sternberg. "Dermot is one of a kind because he possesses not only the global and historical perspective that one might expect from his experience in the business, but also an inherent ability to identify what is most relevant to fans of soccer and other international sports."

Since coming to Fox Sports International in 1997, McQuarrie has played a crucial role in developing and producing such original series as "Fox Sports Noticias," "Diario Fox Sports," "Fox Sports World Report," "MLS Wrap" and the soon-to-debut "Fox Football Friday." Aside from his domestic responsibilities, McQuarrie also oversees program acquisitions for the Fox Pan American Sports joint venture encompassing Fox Sports-branded networks in Latin America. McQuarrie is particularly well known in the international sports production community and, as such, he has proven instrumental in forging sports rights and production agreements in Argentina, Chile, Mexico, Venezuela and other key Latin American countries.

McQuarrie joined Fox as Executive Producer of Fox Sports Americas in 1997 and, four years later, added oversight of Fox Sports International's programming department. The two U.S. networks that he programs -- Fox Sports World and Fox Sports en Espanol -- together with the Fox Sports Latin America channel, reach a combined 37 million cable and satellite homes.

Before joining Fox, McQuarrie built his own production company focused on creating and reinvigorating sports networks around the globe, particularly in Europe. A native of Scotland, he began his career at Radio Gibraltar in 1969. He then went on to work for the BBC and for Grampian Television in Scotland. It was while at Grampian Television in Aberdeen, Scotland, in 1977 that his World Exclusive Report on an oil rig blow out in the North Sea was seen live in 109 countries. The subsequent documentary "Blow Out at Bravo" was nominated for a BAFTA (British Academy of Film and Television Arts) Award. McQuarrie was then invited to join Scottish Television as a reporter and news anchor, rising through the ranks to become a Program Director and Senior Producer/Director.

McQuarrie also found time to write the critically acclaimed book "50 Years in the System," a winner of the MIND award of Great Britain. His hobbies, when he has time, are fishing, golf, cooking and charitable works with the Sovereign Order of St. John of Jerusalem, Knights Hospitaler.
