Business Wire, July 19, 2004

ORLANDO, Fla. -- New Browser-based Access Enables Financial Institutions to More Easily Detect Check Fraud, Comply with Check 21 and Image Exchange

Fiserv Imagesoft, a unit of Fiserv, Inc. (Nasdaq:FISV), today released its Guardian Series(TM) version 8.3 - a more feature-rich version of its recently released software suite that enables financial institutions to perform multiple fraud and image exchange assessment processes on a check image during a single pass through the system.

The Guardian Series currently consists of two product suites - FraudGuard(TM) and ExchangeGuard(TM). The industry-leading FraudGuard suite is comprised of applications that detect and prevent check fraud. The ExchangeGuard suite is made up of applications that facilitate check image exchange, including image quality assessment and image replacement document creation. All applications in the Guardian Series share a common platform, database and user interface, as well as a common decision support function. The non-proprietary design of Guardian Series applications allows for easy integration with most existing check image capture and archive systems.

Guardian Series version 8.3 enhancements include:

--New proprietary zone targeting technology that improves recognition rates and digital interrogation throughput

--Expanded import and routing options that improve system integration and workflow capabilities

--New browser-based design that enables users to access and manage the system any time from any location via the Internet

--New API available for simplified integration with a variety of third-party software

--New support for Oracle 10G database that offers increased data pass-through options

"Because of its cross-product integration, the Guardian Series provides financial institutions with the opportunity to leverage a single investment to meet both their check image exchange and check fraud detection needs. And because the system can perform multiple processes on a check image during a single pass through the system, users can optimize their processing efficiency," said Ron Thompson, President of Fiserv Imagesoft. "We are excited to announce this new browser-based version, making the system even more valuable to our customers through simplified system accessibility and management."

FraudGuard is designed to automate the fraud detection process to more effectively combat potential check fraud. It is comprised of individual applications used for specific check fraud detection processes, such as positive pay, signature verification and exceptions processing. The system automates check fraud detection by using digital interrogation technology to verify the authenticity of all fields on captured check images, ensuring that no alterations, counterfeits or signature forgeries go unnoticed. The FraudGuard product suite includes four integrated applications: Positive PayPLUS, Positive PayPLUS with Secure Seal, Digital Signature Verification and Check Stock Validation.

ExchangeGuard is a suite of applications that facilitates check image and IRD exchange between financial institutions. It is comprised of individual applications used for specific exchange processes, such as image quality assessment, IRD creation and print, image and data routing, and endpoint determination. The ExchangeGuard product suite includes three integrated applications: Virtual Routing Agent (VRA), Image Quality Assessment (IQA), and Image Replacement Document (IRD).
