DataFlux 6.2 Delivers Automated Enterprise Data Quality Process; Release Encompasses Full Spectrum of Data Management Capabilities - from Data Profiling Through Ongoing Data Monitoring
Business Wire, July 19, 2004
CARY, N.C. -- DataFlux Corporation, a leading provider of data management solutions, today announced the availability of an integrated enterprise data management platform that includes the tools necessary to analyze, improve and control any corporate data. DataFlux(R) Release 6.2 provides a comprehensive platform for data quality improvement, giving companies the ability to more effectively manage mission-critical data throughout the enterprise.
With Release 6.2, users can now seamlessly build business rules to correct, integrate and enhance data during the initial data discovery phase. With this new version, business users can take action - from simple data correction to complex data management workflows - immediately after discovering data problems. Also featured in Release 6.2 is data monitoring functionality, the latest addition to the DataFlux enterprise data management methodology. Data monitoring empowers companies to track and validate data quality over time, providing an important control mechanism to complete the data management process.
"The data monitoring functionality has enabled us to proactively monitor the quality of data in our data warehouse and positions DataFlux to cover the entire data quality lifecycle, from initial profiling through monitoring and controlling data," said Jeff Monica, manager of data quality for StorageTek, an early adopter of DataFlux Release 6.2 technology. "With automatic e-mail alerts, we can identify out-of-tolerance conditions quickly and easily. And the associated charting capabilities meet our requirements for corporate reports."
The ability to build data transformation and correction routines from within the data profiling module allows DataFlux customers to design business rules for data and process improvement that are based specifically on the strengths and weaknesses of the data. These business rules can be shared across an organization, allowing business analysts and data stewards to collaborate when creating and refining data quality routines. In addition, rules created during the initial discovery phase can be applied in any DataFlux solution, allowing companies to detect and resolve data problems in real time and batch configurations.
After creating rules to improve and enhance data, data monitoring functionality can establish limits and analyze trends in data quality. A critical piece of data monitoring includes the ability to send e-mail alerts or system notifications when data exceeds established limits.
"The ability to understand and respond to information can be a powerful competitive advantage. DataFlux helps companies analyze their data for a specific purpose: to find ways to improve their corporate information and make better business decisions," said Tony Fisher, president and general manager of DataFlux. "By fusing the discovery and correction phases, companies can more effectively create and implement business rules that can improve the quality of their mission-critical data. Data monitoring completes the process, giving users an important control mechanism to ensure that the data remains consistent, accurate and reliable over time."
