BindView Enhances Vulnerability Management Suite with Expanded Enterprise-Ready Capabilities; New Additions Help Organizations Meet Regulatory Compliance Mandates
Business Wire, July 20, 2004
HOUSTON -- Helping mitigate IT security risks and meet stringent due care requirements for regulatory compliance, BindView Corp. (Nasdaq:BVEW) today announced Version 8.0 of its award-winning Vulnerability Management Suite. On display next week at the annual Black Hat security conference in Las Vegas, the new release of advanced software provides enhanced enterprise-wide scalability and regulatory compliance monitoring, enabling organizations to better secure their business-critical infrastructures against cyber attacks, threats and vulnerabilities, and meet tougher security best practices and regulatory mandates.
"Understanding that regulatory legislation increasingly impacts our customers, BindView has improved its IT security, compliance and audit coverage with Version 8.0," said Arshad Matin, executive vice president of Product & Technology Operations at BindView. "The new release prepares customers for what lies ahead in the emerging regulatory landscape, including enhanced internal controls for Section 404 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, as well as HIPAA, GLBA and FISMA. Supporting international security frameworks including ISO 17799 and COBIT enable companies to comply with regulations and guidelines including Basel II, FFIEC, PIPEDA, 21 CFR Part 11 and the EU Data Protection Directory, among others."
Advanced security and compliance assessments target Windows, UNIX and Linux, with new Linux platform support added for SUSE 9.0 and Red Hat Advanced Server 3.0. Providing technologies for security management, Version 8.0 helps ensure that compliance gaps can be closed. Enhanced industrial-strength network discovery and fingerprinting dramatically improve the ability to effectively lock down all IP-enabled devices on the network. New patch management capabilities support the world's largest IT environments to assess, package and deploy required software updates to close down security holes on servers and workstations. Application support includes SAP, SQL Server, Microsoft Exchange and Active Directory.
"Of significant value in Version 8.0, but not visible to customers, are capabilities we've added deep within the Vulnerability Management Suite to make it easier and faster for BindView to add new security and compliance applications going forward, and adapt existing capabilities as market requirements change," continued Matin. "Keeping our customers ahead today and into the future is a key goal for this release. We're already developing new security and compliance solutions that will be announced in the fourth quarter of this year."
