Mobile Mini Opens Branch in Detroit, Michigan by Acquiring Portable Storage Leasing Assets of AAA Instant Storage, Inc
Business Wire, July 20, 2004
TEMPE, Ariz. -- Mobile Mini, Inc. (NASDAQ National Market: MINI) today announced that it has opened a new branch in Detroit, Michigan through the acquisition of the portable container assets of privately owned, AAA Instant Storage, Inc. This brings the total Mobile Mini branch locations to 48. The purchase price of approximately $1.3 million was paid in cash at closing.
Commenting, Steve Bunger, Mobile Mini's Chairman, President & CEO, stated, "The addition of Detroit expands our foothold in the upper Midwest where we already have branches in Wisconsin, Illinois, and Ohio. Currently ranked the tenth largest metro economy, Detroit - The Motor City, is best known for automobile manufacturing and is home to the world headquarters of General Motors and Ford and the North American headquarters of DaimlerChrysler and Volkswagen. With approximately four million residents in the metro area, Detroit also ranks as a leader in the production of paints, non-electrical machinery and automation equipment, as well as pharmaceuticals, rubber products, synthetic resins and garden seed. Detroit is a vital source of economic activity for the entire state of Michigan with its ports, bridges and border with Canada."
Larry Trachtenberg, Executive Vice President & CFO further stated, "Detroit is the first market we have entered this year, and integration of this newest branch into the Mobile Mini operating model is underway. The acquired assets consist entirely of containers, with no trailers or other inferior storage assets, which should accelerate the process of integrating this location into the Mobile Mini model. We are maintaining our goal of entering no more than two to four new markets this year, with our focus being primarily on growing existing markets."
