A[micro] What: The Caribou Coffee Company presents check to National Breast
Cancer Foundation
A[micro] When: Friday July 23, 2004 at 1:30 p.m.
A[micro] Where: Caribou Coffee at 3261 Peachtree Road NE in Atlanta
A[micro] Who: Caribou CEO Michael J. Coles, National Breast Cancer
Foundation President Janelle Hail and a representative from
The Coca-Cola Company
The Scoop: About half of the $28,602.00 check came from sales of "Amy's Blend" a special coffee the company developed in honor of Amy Erickson, a Caribou employee who succumbed to breast cancer. Caribou raised $14,051.00, which The Coca-Cola Company matched. An anonymous donor added another $500.00. Amy was one of Caribou's original team members and was the company's Research and Development Manager for Quality and Coffee.
"Amy's Blend" was on sale April 26 through June 6. Caribou plans to expand the program and add a decaffeinated "Amy's Blend" next year, which should enable the company to raise more money in the fight against breast cancer.
Minneapolis-based Caribou Coffee Company is the second largest non-franchised coffee house chain in the United States with 263 stores in nine states and the District of Columbia.
The National Breast Cancer Foundation mission is to save lives by increasing awareness of breast cancer through education and by providing mammograms for those in need.
Media are invited to attend the event. We will also distribute a news release and photographs following the check presentation.
