Former Siebel Systems Asia-Pacific Executive To Lead Vignette Asia-Pacific Region; Vignette Appoints Douglas Etzel as General Manager of Asia-Pacific

AUSTIN, Texas -- Vignette Corp. (Nasdaq:VIGN) today announced that it has named Douglas Etzel as general manager of its Asia-Pacific region to spearhead the company's escalating presence in one of the world's most rapidly growing markets.
"Doug's extensive enterprise software sales and operations background, combined with his in-depth knowledge of the Asia-Pacific markets, makes him a powerful and exciting addition to the Vignette leadership team," said Patti Jones, senior vice president of worldwide sales and distribution at Vignette. "Doug's experience and passion for driving success with Asian customers and partners will help enhance Vignette's growing presence in the region."

As senior director of business development for Siebel Systems in Asia-Pacific and Japan, Etzel worked side by side with local management and sales teams to drive significant deals, served as a trusted adviser to executives across functions in the U.S. headquarters office, and strengthened relationships with major partners in the region.
"With Vignette's acquisition of Australia-based TOWER Technology and the growing interest among global customers for Vignette's integrated content management and delivery strategy, I'm excited about the huge opportunity in front of the company to help drive the organization forward regionwide," Etzel said. Etzel joined Siebel in 1999 as senior product marketing manager for the Asia region and went on to hold a number of product marketing, business development and sales positions including director of business development and board member for Siebel's Japanese subsidiary. Earlier in his career, Etzel served as product manager and business development manager for NCR-Teradata in Tokyo and as a design engineer for Seiko Epson Corporation in Nagano, Japan. Etzel holds an MBA from the University of California at Berkeley, and a bachelor of science in electrical and computer engineering from Oregon State University. He also spent one year of post-graduate study at Waseda University in Tokyo.
