Jacobs Selected for Design and Other Professional Services Required to Revitalize and Upgrade the Operations and Checkout Building at Kennedy Space Center

Business Wire, July 28, 2004

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. (NYSE:JEC) announced today that a subsidiary company has been selected for negotiation by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) to provide design and other professional services required to revitalize and upgrade the Operation and Checkout Building (O&C) at Kennedy Space Center, Fla. The project also involves programming, interior design, and program/construction management services.

The magnitude of each phase of construction is expected to exceed $5 million. Concept validation and design is expected to commence in late August 2004.

Originally built in the 1950s, this is the first major renovation to the entire 200,000-square-foot O&C building. The renovation includes the removal/demolition of all interior systems, replacing them with modern, energy-efficient systems.

Jacobs is providing a design to strive for certification in the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design's Green Building rating system. The design and construction of the O&C comprises several phases over multiple years.

In making the announcement, Jacobs Group Vice President Warren Dean stated, "We are excited to continue our 40-year history with NASA as part of this very important project. The opportunity to provide design and program/construction management services to Kennedy Space Center's O&C Building further strengthens our commitment to helping NASA meet their critical mission requirements."
