CANON U.S.A. Introduces New CD-4070NW Digital Document Recorder
Business Wire, July 6, 2004
LAKE SUCCESS, N.Y. -- Advanced Scanning, Archiving and Networking Features for Document Intensive Offices
Canon U.S.A., Inc., the nation's market share brand leader in black-and-white and color laser copier/printer solutions(i), today announced the immediate availability of the new CD-4070NW, the latest in the imaging leader's line of desktop digital document recorders. Designed for credit unions, law firms and other office environments requiring plug and play document management, the CD-4070NW allows users to scan and archive reports, contracts, legal briefs, invoices and other important documents onto CD-Recordable disks (CD-Rs) or to network folders, quickly and easily.
"The CD-4070NW digital recorder effectively integrates everything most offices need for local and distributed scanning into a compact, desktop system," said Dennis Amorosano, director and general manager, Image Filing Systems Division at Canon U.S.A. "Specifically designed to make the process of image capture and document management as simple as possible, the CD-4070NW can be deployed virtually anywhere, even to remote locations with multiple users."
"The best-selling Canon imaging product for credit unions just got better," said Wes Millar, Vice President of Strategic Alliances for CUNA & Affiliates. "Canon's CD-4070NW is yet another introduction in a long line of innovative Canon products that have benefited credit unions over the years. A host of new features, including web-browser-based remote search functions, demonstrate the value Canon presents this industry. Thanks to their technology, we are able to deliver technology solutions to national accounts that grant access to important documents at any branch, thus reducing the costs associated with storing paper while simultaneously improving response time to members."
The CD-4070NW digital recorder can scan images, then store them automatically on the internal hard drive and CD-Recordable discs or share them directly over networks. In addition, CD images are easily retrieved and viewed through Windows explorer on virtually any PC, without the need for special software. Unlike traditional PC-based imaging systems, the CD-4070NW arrives with everything built-in, including an embedded CPU and Windows XP operating system plus software. It also includes a high-speed, color document scanner and recordable CD drive, all accessible via a large 8.4", high-resolution, LCD color touch-screen panel.
In order to facilitate heavy document workflows, the CD-4070NW offers black-and-white scanning speeds of up to 43 pages per minute (simplex) and 87 images per minute (duplex)(ii). The recorder also features several scanning modes - 24-bit color, 8-bit grayscale, and black and white, with output resolutions up to 300 dpi - and is able to convert documents into multi-page TIFF, JPEG or searchable PDF image files. Standard automatic indexing also streamlines input. A major time-saver, built-in Optical Character Recognition (OCR) reduces the need for manual data entry.
Workgroup Convenience
Through 100Base-T networks, users can access the recorder from any network PC using standard internet browsers. It allows authorized network users to search, view and download documents archived on the CD-4070NW device's hard drive by using either a key word, file name, file type, date or directory reference. Additional network scanning capabilities include scan-to-file and scan-to-e-mail, which allow documents to be sent without being saved - an important security feature.
The Canon CD-4070NW Digital Document Recorder is available today through authorized Canon Image Filing Systems dealers with a suggested retail price of $8,395.
