1,500 North Americans Immigrate to Israel on El Al Airlines: New Record Number Set

MEDIA ALERT:    The largest group of North Americans ever
                immigrating at one time to Israel will take place on
                EL AL this summer. The first of three jumbo jets will
                carry over 450 passengers, including 158 families &
                154 children under the age of 12 (1/3 of the flight).
                The youngest person traveling is two weeks old and the
                oldest is 71. The coordinator of the project is the
                Nefesh B'Nefesh organization (www.nefeshbnefesh.org),
                working in close cooperation with the Jewish Agency
                for Israel. The initiative is endorsed by the United
                Jewish Communities (UJC) and the three primary streams
                of Judaism - Orthodox, Reform and Conservative.

WHEN:           Tuesday, July 13th 1:30p.m. Departure ceremony and
                pre-flight media briefing
                4:00p.m. EL AL flight #3014 departs

WHERE:          Terminal #4, JFK Airport
                Red Carpet Area (near the EL AL check-in area)

WHAT:           Israeli and EL AL officials will attend the farewell
                ceremony at JFK (to be announced).

                In Israel, Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, Finance
                Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Jewish Agency Chair
                Sallai Meridor and other leaders will be on hand to
                welcome the newcomers at Ben Gurion Airport when the
                EL AL flight arrives July 14th. EL AL has adorned the
                special aircrafts with the logos of Nefesh B'Nefesh
                and the Jewish Agency.
