Results underscore the value of solutions that help organizations
get the most out of their IT investments
VERITAS Software Corporation (Nasdaq: VRTSE) today announced that it was named "the undisputed leader of storage management software" in InfoWorld's May 2004 survey of readers who are involved in evaluating or purchasing storage solutions. The results further validate VERITAS' market leadership in storage management software as InfoWorld readers voted overwhelmingly in favor of VERITAS, giving the company twice as many votes as its nearest competitor. VERITAS is building on its long-standing leadership position in storage management to deliver the building blocks for utility computing, a computing model that aligns IT resources with business needs.
InfoWorld surveyed more than 600 readers for its annual report on enterprise storage management. In addition to naming the top vendors in a variety of categories, participants were asked to reveal the factors driving their 2004 storage spending, as well as provide insight into their top priorities and challenges as it relates to storage.
"The majority of our respondents are very concerned with getting more value from their existing technology," said Steve Fox, editor-in-chief, InfoWorld. "With planned 2004 storage expenditures still averaging nearly $1.2 million dollars per year, according to our survey, it's only natural that companies seek to understand where their dollars are going and how they can leverage what they have."
"The results of the InfoWorld survey once again demonstrate that companies are turning to vendors, like VERITAS, that have the ability to help them get the most out of their existing IT infrastructure," said Jeremy Burton, senior vice president and chief marketing officer, VERITAS Software. "VERITAS has built a reputation for this in storage management and we are extending this focus by delivering the building blocks for utility computing."
