PALO ALTO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 15, 2004
Industry's first search solution with document-level security;
Features unparalleled performance and standards-based functionality
Copernic, a leading provider of cutting-edge information management solutions, today announced the release of Copernic Enterprise Search 3.0, a solution that is easy to use, powerful, secure and is specifically designed to meet the distinct needs of the Small-to-Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) and departments of larger enterprises. Copernic is offering a free, fully functioning download of Copernic Enterprise Search 3.0 that allows users to index up to 5,000 documents. Licenses of the software scaling to millions of documents are also available.
Copernic Enterprise Search 3.0 builds on a strong foundation with significant additions in the areas of document-level security, a further streamlined user interface and an installation process completed in minutes. Copernic Enterprise Search 3.0 is an affordable, simple and easy-to-deploy solution that directly addresses the cost, complexity and deployment issues inherent in existing enterprise search solutions.
"Organizations are tired of spending time and money on enterprise search software that does not work. Customers are looking for enterprise solutions that they can control, implement and will not break the bank. Copernic Enterprise Search meets these requirements for all types of businesses," said Martin Bouchard, Copernic's President and CEO.
"With more than 1,800 deployments in the past seven months, it is obvious that our product is fulfilling these needs" Bouchard continued.
Feature and Functionality Extensions
New features and functionality in Copernic Enterprise Search 3.0 provide organizations with document-level security on Windows networks and Exchange servers, ensuring that only authorized users will have access to search results involving sensitive information. In classic Copernic fashion, the addition of document security is accomplished with no changes to the existing security model. Copernic Enterprise Search 3.0 also installs in minutes, ensuring that organizations have the system up-and-running without a costly, time-consuming implementation or the additional expense of professional services.
Copernic Enterprise Search 3.0 (CES) offers SMEs and departments of large organizations:
Connectivity to Information In Any Format and On Any Server - CES indexes every kind of XML schema and translate it into the proper structure, ensuring that search results encompass all of a company's internal data and incorporate the burgeoning use of external XML feeds. Using XML over HTTP and an open file-conversion system, users are now able to connect to other applications and have full search capabilities of the data residing in those applications and data feeds, regardless of file format.
Uncompromised Security - CES ensures that only approved users can view sensitive documents and files, while maintaining the integrity of a company's existing security infrastructure. Existing file access permissions can now be enforced down to the document level on Intranets and Microsoft Exchange server content.
Improved Performance - Copernic provides a search solution that is as quick and as powerful as search solutions costing several times more, even when searching up to seven million documents. Indexing, crawling and querying speeds have all been substantially improved and allow for full, all-inclusive searches.
Simplified Administration - Users and administrators will have an improved search experience, as a result of:
-- An enhanced user interface;
-- A built-in keyword thesaurus that allows for query expansion
and search term changes; and
-- An e-mail alert system that notifies administrators when
critical events occur (unexpected shutdowns, system failures,
etc).
Enhanced Usability - CES caches search results in a convenient results-browsing mode, enabling users to quickly and easily view their search results through HTML. This saves significant time, as users are not forced to open large applications like Word, PowerPoint or Acrobat to access the content they need.
"As more and more business is conducted online, search provides the entry into businesses of all sizes," said Susan Feldman, IDC's VP for Content Technologies. "Small and medium-sized businesses have the same need as larger ones to create excellent access to their information for their employees and for their customers. In fact, without the marketing and sales budgets of larger firms, providing good access to information becomes even more imperative for small and medium sized businesses. Because these companies cannot afford expensive software with long implementation times, they need an affordable search engine that will give them the features they require out of the box."
Pricing and Availability
Copernic Enterprise Search 3.0 is available immediately. Pricing is free for indexes containing up to 5,000 documents. Licenses start at $3,999 for indexes of up to 10,000 documents and are incrementally tiered for indexes into the millions of documents.
