GST Announces SAIT Tape Autoloader
Business Wire, June 16, 2004
LAKE FOREST, Calif. -- GST, Inc., manufacturer of innovative storage solutions, announced its SAIT Autoloader addition to its tape backup product line using the latest SAIT-1 tape technology from Sony. This addition extends GST's line of tape backup and recovery solutions to provide the highest tape autoloader speeds and capacities available to the small and medium business market. GST's best-in-class SAIT Autoloader provides up to 13TB of unattended backup that highly simplifies remote backup operations for a week or more.
"Our new SAIT Autoloader breaks the barriers of unattended backup solutions with a 10-cartridge 13TB capacity that greatly simplifies remote backup operations," reports David Breisacher, CEO/Chairman of GST.
"As a recognized leader in the AS/400 market, GST provides a unique complement to Breece Hill," said Christopher Stone, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Breece Hill. "Through this partnership, GST is making SAIT technology available to the thousands of companies that haven't been able to take advantage of the innovative storage features Sony provides by providing a packaged solution in a compact 4U size. Adding the fact that it also uses WORM technology, which makes it ideal for companies managing to compliance regulations, this move demonstrates that GST continues to be an innovator in its market."
Hiroyuki Minamiya, senior marketing manager of OEM tape storage solutions at Sony Electronics said, "SAIT-1 drives offer capacity and performance not feasible with other current half-inch tape technologies. With it, GST is delivering an autoloader that simplifies the backup operation with enough capacity to store a full day's backup on a single cartridge. When combined with SAIT's capacity, performance, reliability, scalability and cost, the result is a very compelling solution for storage-intensive applications."
