Business Wire, June 16, 2004

HOUSTON -- Equipping customers with insight to improve the security and risk management of IT systems, BindView Corp. (Nasdaq:BVEW), a leading provider of proactive business policy, IT security and directory management software worldwide, announced today that it will host an online information event featuring industry analyst Paul Proctor, META Group vice president of Security & Risk Strategies, who will offer comprehensive strategies for enterprise-wide patch management.

What:

In an era of Internet-based attacks that occur with greater frequency and velocity, IT organizations face a regular stream of software patches, fixes and updates to keep their enterprise systems safe.

"Patch deployment is absolutely one of the most pressing and complex issues organizations face in securing their IT infrastructures, particularly as intervals between vulnerabilities continue to diminish," said Proctor. "Developing a good risk management posture is important as organizations look to mitigate the onslaught of malicious attacks."

To develop a comprehensive program that is survivable, repeatable and measurable, join META Group's Paul Proctor, vice president of Security & Risk Strategies, as he discusses "Patch Management and Regulation: Meaning, Measurability and Madness." The one-hour session will cover patch management as a critical element in securing IT environments, including vulnerability timelines, potential pitfalls, measurability and metrics for regulatory compliance.

When:

Thursday, June 24, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. CDT.

Who Should Participate:

IT executives, managers and administrators with responsibilities for system security and risk management should join. Participants will gain specific insight on best practices for patch management and will get answers to the following questions:

--How can enterprises develop a good risk management posture that is survivable, repeatable and measurable?
