California Places $660,000 Order for Additional TVI Decontamination Equipment
Business Wire, June 21, 2004
GLENN DALE, Md. -- TVI Corporation (OTCBB:TVIN), a leading supplier of rapid deployment shelters and chemical/biological decontamination systems for the military, public health and first response agencies, today announced that the State of California has placed a $660,000 order for additional TVI decontamination systems. The purchase follows a $1.7 million order received from California in September 2003.
The Emergency Medical Services Department, through the Department of Health for the State of California, purchased TVI Corporation's rapidly deployable Decontamination Shelter Systems with a grant provided by the HRSA (Health Resources and Services Administration, a division of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services).
On May 24, 2004, HHS Secretary Tommy G. Thompson announced $498 million in awards to states, territories and four major metropolitan areas to strengthen the ability of hospitals and other health care facilities to respond to bioterror attacks, infectious diseases, and natural disasters that may cause mass casualties. http://www.hhs.gov/news/press/2004pres/20040524.html.
> "This additional funding by HHS will enable hospitals to purchase decontamination systems, surge capacity shelters and patient isolation systems, which are among TVI's fastest growing products," stated Rick Priddy, President and CEO of TVI Corporation. "California hospitals have already utilized TVI's surge capacity shelters to treat patients during the 2003-2004 influenza season and this purchase will increase the state's ability to respond to infectious diseases, natural disasters and terrorist incidents.""This purchase again signifies the success of TVI Corporation's sales force and marketing efforts," Priddy continued. "TVI Corporation continues to prove its leadership position of providing high quality, rapidly deployable Decontamination Shelter Systems. TVI is proud to play an important role in supporting first responders around world."
The order was placed through Fisher Safety, TVI's largest distributor.
