Aviva Canada Inc. and OnX Enterprise Solutions Inc. to Deliver PC Data Protection Through Broker Network
Business Wire, June 21, 2004
TORONTO -- OnX Enterprise Solutions Inc. (TSX:ON),"OnX", a leading Managed Services and Internet solution provider and Aviva Canada Inc. announced that they have entered a joint promotion agreement to provide automatic PC data back-up and recovery to small business owners. Aviva Canada Inc. is one of the country's leading property and casualty insurance groups. Through Aviva's existing network of independent insurance brokers, both parties agreed to promote OnX's Distributed Data Protection (DDP) service - the PC data back-up and recovery managed service. The program will be available to both new and existing small business insurance customers.
DDP provides customers an easy yet safe way to automatically back-up important PC data to a secure online data centre. In the event of data loss, (regardless of cause: theft, equipment failure, human error, malicious virus attacks, etc.) protected data can be easily recovered online, whenever and wherever the customer chooses, effectively protecting against data loss - a common and often under estimated business risk.
Vulnerable business data is now easy to protect
Most small businesses will store critical data on PCs - and losing that data has a serious impact to the bottom line. This agreement promotes the benefit of protecting that data effectively.
According to a study done by the leading global market intelligence and advisory firm IDC in 2002, nearly 60% of business related data resides unprotected on company desktops and laptops, yet less than 3% of important PC data is properly protected. This amounts to a substantial and ever increasing business exposure. Consider the following:
- Viruses: Up to 10 per cent of PCs are infected with viruses each month and 37 per cent of computer virus infections result in data loss.
- Computer Loss: Over 15 per cent of insurance claims for computer loss in 2002 were theft related.
- Human Error: While most are not eager to admit it, people often delete files that they really needed.
The best way to protect your critical business data is to find an automatic and cost effective method to back-up your important PC data. You need back-ups that won't impact the productivity of the PC owner or depend on fallible human action - plus a simple and reliable way to retrieve the data whenever and wherever you like. OnX's DDP offers just that.
"As one of Canada's leading P&C insurance companies, we are constantly seeking ways to provide innovative solutions to customers and help them manage their exposure to risk. By offering an easy to use, automatic data protection service, we're ensuring our customers have access to more complete protection for their business. Loss or damage to a computer is serious - but it is relatively easily replaced. It is the loss of important data that usually has more serious consequences for a business because until now, it has not been possible to quickly and easily recreate it." stated Paul Fletcher, Aviva's Senior Vice-President, Marketing.
"Six months ago OnX set out on a mission to become the pre-eminent provider of Managed Services to Canadian organizations of all sizes" stated Phil DeLeon, President of OnX. "Recognizing that our ability to achieve this mission is highly dependent on reaching a broad and diverse range of customers, we have embarked on a strategy that involves non-traditional relationships with new and innovative channels. Through Aviva, we'll be able to service a group of customers, who we have not been able to reach before and who we know, need to protect their data. The data they rely on to run their business."
