DataWorld Solutions To Change Company Name to Defense Technology Systems; Move Reflects Company's Growing Security and Defense Business
Business Wire, June 21, 2004
HAUPPAUGE, N.Y. -- DataWorld Solutions, Inc. (OTCBB: DWLD) announced today that it has instructed its legal counsel to file the appropriate forms to change the Company's name to Defense Technology Systems (DTS). The move reflects the Company's growing focus on security and defense applications. The Company currently pursues security opportunities via its wholly-owned subsidiary DWS Defense Systems, Inc.
DTS will continue to pursue new products and services to enhance it's security and defense business. DWS Defense Systems recently completed the installation of bullet resistant doors and other security-related accessories for Amalgamated Bank's new branch in lower Manhattan. The high-profile installation included bullet-proof doors throughout teller and bank vault areas, specially fortified sheetrock for the wall, bullet resistant fiberglass mesh and bullet resistant laminated polycarbonate for the teller areas.
In connection with its new focus, the company expects to appoint additional senior executives with experience in the security industry. Its current Advisory Board includes former New York City Police Commissioner Bernie Kerik. Mr. Kerik currently serves on Taser International's (NASDAQ: TASR) Board of Directors. DTS will continue to utilize Kerik's expertise and experience to identify market opportunities.
"We believe the name change better reflects the success we have enjoyed and the opportunities ahead for our security business," said McPhee. "The timing is ideal for this change, as there are significant opportunities in this area. With the recent improvements to our balance sheet and our re-listing on the OTC Bulletin Board, we now believe that all of the pieces are in place to transform Defense Technology Systems into a leading provider of security solutions."
