Pepsi Smash Promotion Pours Into Wienerschnitzel; Peel-and-Win Game to Be Featured on 32-Ounce Cups June 15-Aug. 13, Will Spill over Into New Online Fan Club
Business Wire, June 22, 2004
NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. -- Wienerschnitzel, The World's Largest Hot Dog Chain, will make about 150 customers feel like top dogs this summer with a Pepsi Smash(TM) Music Bash on-the-cup game. The peel-and-win promotion will be featured on specially marked 32-ounce cups from June 15 through Aug. 13. Grand prize winners receive a trip for two to Chicago to attend a Pepsi Smash Live concert starring R&B group Destiny's Child with special guests Kanye West and Eve at the House of Blues on Sept. 18.
Wienerschnitzel will give away nine grand prizes, which include concert tickets, airfare to Chicago, hotel accommodations and $200 cash. Other top prizes are three Ibanez electric guitars, 14 Apple iPods and 120 Kanye West CDs. In addition, more than 1.8 million customers will win coupons for a free Chicago Dog, Original Mustard Dog, Original Chili Dog, Corn Dog, regular fries or small Pepsi.
"More than a third of all restaurant goers are younger than 25, and we think they'll relish the chance to wrap up the dog days of summer with a trip to a Pepsi Smash Live concert!" said Tom Amberger, director of marketing.
In mid-June, Wienerschnitzel is launching an online fan club called "The Schnitz" at www.wienerschnitzel.com. Those who join The Schnitz this summer will be eligible to win prizes from the Pepsi Smash Music Bash game, and peel-and-win cups in the restaurants will also refer customers to the website. Customers who register will receive special discount offers, a monthly newsletter and invitations to new-product launch parties. The Schnitz will also offer downloads and screensavers, including games and instant messaging icons.
