PowerByHand Delivers Palm OS Training Solution to the Nation's 6th Largest School District

Business Wire, June 22, 2004

DURHAM, N.C. -- Power Training For Palm OS Helps Nevada's Clark County School District Maximize Usage of Handheld Computers Across 289 Schools

PowerByHand, the premier provider of mobile content and solutions, today announced that its Power Training for Palm OS(R) solution has been implemented by the Clark County School District of Nevada. This powerful training solution for Palm OS gives school districts the confidence to deploy Palm OS handheld devices to their teachers and students and empower them with the knowledge of their new device's capabilities.

Clark County School District, which includes the city of Las Vegas, is the sixth largest school district in the country. It is also the second-largest employer in the state of Nevada, with over 30,000 employees and more than 268,000 students. Clark County has only four certified trainers to provide instruction for the entire district and just one Educational Computing Specialist (ECS) for each school. PowerByHand's Palm OS training solution puts training materials in the hands of device users and allows Clark County School District faculty and students to access the training necessary to more effectively integrate handheld technology into the classroom.

The Power Training for Palm OS CD-based solution is designed to equip handheld users with the skills necessary to gain the maximum value from their handheld device. It is a self-guided course that features a personal trainer and provides a comprehensive curriculum on the functions and capabilities of Palm OS handheld devices. The solution is server-based, giving students and teachers easy access to the training from any workstation in the district. Power Training provides fundamental handheld training for each individual, allowing Clark County's trainers and computing specialists to focus their time more effectively on applications that have the largest impact on student achievement.

"The application allows users to learn at their own pace, with the option of reviewing each step or returning to a topic weeks, or even months later if necessary," explained Chuck Sinicki, project facilitator, Clark County School District. "The solution has helped our handheld users, trainers and specialists to focus less on support issues and more on the academic value of these devices."

"Power Training is the perfect solution for the thousands of schools that have already deployed, or have plans to deploy, handheld devices and educational applications," said Teddy Kavadas, vice president of education and enterprise, PowerByHand. "It provides teachers and students with the training they need to feel confident and empowered to use their handhelds to their fullest potential."

In addition to Power Training, PowerByHand offers more than 2,500 educational applications through www.palmgear.com and a collection of more than 500 classic eBooks at www.ereader.com.
