SafeNet Appoints New Executive to Strengthen Government Channels; IT Security Leader Names Howard Seeger Vice President, Business Development of Corporate Alliances

Business Wire, June 23, 2004

BALTIMORE -- Seeger Formerly Led Systems Integrator Alliances for Qwest

SafeNet, Inc. (NASDAQ:SFNT), setting the standard for information security, today announced the appointment of Howard Seeger as Vice President, Business Development of Corporate Alliances. In this new role, Seeger will lead executive level relationships with system integrators and telecommunication service providers to further deploy SafeNet technologies addressing new and existing government needs. Seeger comes to SafeNet from Qwest Communications, where he most recently served as Vice President of System Integrator Alliances.

"To solidify and increase our government business, SafeNet will more aggressively develop relationships with systems integrators and service providers at the highest levels, and Howard is ideally suited for this role," said Chris Fedde, Senior Vice President and General Manager for SafeNet's Enterprise Security Division. "Howard brings both the technical and networking expertise to continue developing new relationships, as well as build upon our existing partnerships. SafeNet's incumbency and reputation in the government market positions us to leverage new opportunities."

At Qwest, Seeger led the System Integrator Business unit, outsourcing engagements in federal, state, local, and commercial enterprise markets. Prior to running this business unit at Qwest, Mr. Seeger also served as Vice President, Sales and Marketing for Qwest's Government Services unit, growing revenues from $100 million to over $300 million.

"Many government relationships start with the integrators and service providers. Therefore, SafeNet, as one of the only single-source providers of security technology to the government, must capitalize on all distribution channels, especially those held in such high regard to federal agencies," said Mr. Seeger. "I am excited to join SafeNet and execute a plan growing SafeNet's government sector market share."

Prior to his tenure at Qwest Communications, Mr. Seeger has also held executive positions at Wang Government Services, TeleCommunication Systems, and SAIC, with responsibilities for executive level business development and operations. Mr. Seeger also retired from the United States Navy after 20 years in several high-tech roles, such as command and control for computer systems, radio suites, and electronic warfare systems, including the Strategic Systems Program for the Trident II Navigation Subsystems Software.
