Agfa Monotype Debuts Five Type Foundries and Over 100 Fonts on Fonts.com

Business Wire, June 23, 2004

WILMINGTON, Mass. & SALFORDS, Surrey, England -- Agfa Monotype has added over 100 typefaces to Fonts.com from the Fine Fonts, PixieType, RJH Productions, Typebox and Ultimate Symbol foundries. The collections can be viewed at www.fonts.com/foundries.

"This is an exceptional crop of Fonts.com releases," said Allan Haley, director of words and letters at Agfa Monotype. "From pixel-based screen fonts to progressive display designs, these new collections will satisfy many needs while providing inspiration for future projects."

Fine Fonts was formed in 2000 by industry veterans Michael Harvey and Andy Benedek. Their work has led to seven new products on Fonts.com, including the Aesop(TM) package, based on a graceful pen-drawn script, and the blackletter Fine Gothic(TM) family, inspired by fonts created by the 20th century German designer, Rudolf Koch. Most of the new Fine Fonts products are available in the PostScript(R) format for Macintosh(R) platforms and the TrueType(R) format for Microsoft(R) Windows(R) systems. Individual fonts are $32 and the Fine Gothic volume is priced at $88.

PixieType fonts were created primarily for on-screen usage in Macromedia(R) Flash(TM) or Adobe(R) Photoshop(R) applications and other pixel-based products. The PT-Bossa(TM) and the futuristic PT-Ellus(TM) packages were designed for on-screen legibility when used at their intended point size of eight. The 18 PixieType fonts are available in TrueType for Macintosh and Windows platforms starting at $22.

RJH Productions was formed by designer Robert Howell. The Madness(TM) family, a scribble-styled handwriting design, and the Roughedge(TM) typeface, created using a matchstick dipped in ink, have appeared in print and broadcast campaigns worldwide. The two RJH designs are offered in various formats for Macintosh and Windows platforms and are priced at $38 and $50 respectively.

Typebox brings 38 typefaces to Fonts.com, including the TX Lithium(TM) family, based on a heavy, rounded, technology-inspired design, and the TX Manifesto(TM) face, a headliner with squared, condensed letterforms. Typebox fonts are available in PostScript and TrueType for Macintosh systems. Individual fonts start at $32 with packages of two or more designs beginning at $82.

With 73 products, Ultimate Symbol offers a comprehensive collection of picture fonts on Fonts.com. The USF Astronomy(TM) family features perspectives on both the zodiac and the moon. The USF Highway USA(TM) collection includes four sets of highway signs and symbols. Ultimate Symbol fonts are available in PostScript for Macintosh systems and in TrueType for Windows and Macintosh platforms. Prices for individual fonts start at $44 with families beginning at $74.
