Esmertec's Java Virtual Machine Solution for Mobile Phones is Selected by Panasonic
Business Wire, June 28, 2004
SAN FRANCISCO -- JavaOne--Esmertec(TM) (www.esmertec.com), a leading provider of Java(TM) solutions for mobile phones and embedded devices, and Panasonic Mobile Communications, a worldwide leader in the development and manufacture of mobile communications products has signed an agreement for the supply of Esmertec's Jbed(TM) JVM solution to Panasonic.
Esmertec is working with its partner, eValley, a leading exponent for Java software development in Japan, to enable the deployment of Jbed on Panasonic handsets.
Presently, over 25% of total commercial phones are Java-enabled and the trend is a strong upward one, to cater to end consumers' demand for a richer experience and larger variety of Java applications such as games and news-tickers.
Esmertec's Jbed CLDC, with its unique FastBCC(TM) compiler technology, is a field-proven JVM solution specifically designed to power up devices with limited CPU and small memory size, such as mobile phones.
"We are proud to have a major player like Panasonic as a customer," said Alain Blancquart, CEO of Esmertec. "It is through our customers and their confidence in our products and services that Esmertec is recognized today as a leader in providing wireless Java to the mobile telecommunications market. We will continue to deliver to our customers such as Panasonic innovative and reliable products."
