NMS Communications to Optimize Radio Access Networks; NMS Wireless Backhaul Optimizer Integrated into Ericsson Expander Offering

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. -- NMS Communications (NASDAQ: NMSS), a leading provider of communications technologies and solutions for enhanced services and efficient networks, announced today that they have entered into an agreement with Ericsson (NASDAQ: ERICY), the leader in telecommunications, involving the integration of AccessGate(TM), NMS' new wireless backhaul optimizer, into the Ericsson Expander solutions.
NMS' AccessGate enhances the performance of the radio access network, lowers operating expense, brings IP to the backhaul network, and makes heterogeneous networks more efficient.

The cooperation between the two companies will include technical cooperation and joint testing. Under the agreement NMS AccessGate will be integrated and verified with Ericsson base station controller (BSC). The jointly integrated solution will be available by third quarter of 2004.
