Prudential Financial Appoints Mark Hug Vice President And Chief Marketing Officer

NEWARK, N.J. -- Prudential Financial, Inc. (NYSE:PRU), announced today the appointment of Mark Hug as vice president and chief marketing officer for the company's individual life insurance area, effective July 19. Hug reports directly to Jim Avery, president of individual life insurance at Prudential and assumes many of the responsibilities held by Priscilla Myers, who retires after nearly 30 years of dedicated service to the company.

Prior to his appointment at Prudential, Hug was chief marketing officer of Allmerica Financial Services, and later president of that company. Before joining Allmerica, Hug was senior vice president of individual markets for Equitable, and prior to that he was vice president and head of sales for Aetna.

"Mark is a seasoned industry professional with a strong track record of marketing and sales management achievement," added Avery. "He will focus on growing our business through our current distribution channels and new distribution opportunities."

Hug is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame, a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries.
