PARTICIPANTS: Officials from the Metropolitan Water District of
Southern California, Three Valleys Municipal Water
District, Inland Empire Utilities Agency, local retail
water agencies; experts on pipeline repair project,

              conservation.

BACKGROUND: Beginning early next Monday (June 7), the Rialto Feeder,
a major imported-water pipeline serving the area, will
be shut down for around-the-clock repairs. Repairs are
expected to take about a week, limiting imported water
              deliveries to some areas.

For the shutdown, water officials have asked residents
to plan on suspending outdoor watering and non-essential
indoor water use in order to extend local supplies.
Affected areas include the cities of La Verne,
Claremont, Chino, Chino Hills, Montclair, Ontario,
              Rancho Cucamonga, Upland and Fontana.

Establishment of the Conservation Command Center will
include briefings on the pipeline repair project, the
local water-supply situation, and water-saving tips.
