NSI Strengthens Leadership Position in Data Protection Expanding Product Family with GeoCluster Plus

Business Wire, June 30, 2004

HOBOKEN, N.J. -- New offering eliminates single point of failure and supports remote availability in clustered environments

NSI Software, Inc. (NSI(R)) today announced the availability of GeoCluster(R) Plus. Using patented NSI technology, GeoCluster Plus extends the high availability of business-critical applications and data on Microsoft Cluster Service (MSCS) while also allowing for the remote replication of clustered data for disaster recovery purposes.

Typical users of clusters are looking for high availability of applications on their Windows systems. MSCS clusters can automatically detect and recover from server or application failures. GeoCluster Plus advances this level of protection by replicating the data on any node within the cluster to the other nodes, utilizing storage media that is independent to each server, eliminating the single point of failure native to MSCS shared storage configuration.

GeoCluster Plus overcomes the inherent geographic limitations of the MSCS environment by incorporating the long-distance replication capabilities of NSI Double-Take(R), the industry's de facto standard solution for data replication in Windows environments, into its overall business continuity solution. In addition to providing for highly available servers and applications, GeoCluster Plus also enables complete disaster recovery protection through remote replication of the cluster data to other clustered or stand-alone servers for rapid recovery and failover.

"NSI is directly addressing the needs of our MSCS customers by providing a higher level of availability and protection for their business-critical applications and data," said Steve Anderson, director in the Windows Server Group at Microsoft. "The remote availability of GeoCluster Plus ensures that clustered data and applications can be replicated at separate locations, overcoming the limits of a cluster's SCSI configuration to provide a proven disaster recovery solution."

Using a standard IP network, GeoCluster Plus provides continuous real-time data replication within a cluster. Application failover is fast, automatic and reduces downtime. GeoCluster Plus is managed through the standard MSCS graphical console preserving the ability to manage all cluster resources as a single system.

"GeoCluster Plus is a natural extension of our family of data protection software. By providing high availability data protection within a cluster, this new offering delivers on the key hallmarks of our data replication solutions - accessibility, usability and reliability," said Don Beeler, president and CEO at NSI. "We continue to raise the standard for Windows-based data protection by delivering feature-rich products and services that directly correlate with our customer's needs."

GeoCluster Plus works with Microsoft Cluster Service 1.0 or greater. GeoCluster Plus is immediately available; pricing begins at $7495.
