CyberGuard and Intel Collaborate to Enable Rapid Development of Customized Secure Solutions; New Development Kit Paves Way for VoIP, Mobile Wireless Products with Minimal Time to Market
Business Wire, June 30, 2004
FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- CyberGuard Corporation, (Nasdaq:CGFW) the technology leader in network security, today announced that it has built a new development platform in collaboration with Intel Corporation (Nasdaq:INTC). Based on Intel's Xscale(TM) family of processors, the new development kit will allow developers to produce a wide range of information security solutions quickly and cost-efficiently.
While both companies will market the product, CyberGuard is using the board, called the CyberGuard(R) SE4500, to develop fully customized, turnkey solutions. Intel will sell the product they call the Intel(R) IXDPG425 Network Gateway Development Platform as is, with customers developing their own custom solutions.
"CyberGuard has cultivated a loyal following on the basis of unparalleled technical expertise and a commitment to accommodating customer requirements. Continuing this commitment, the SE4500 enables us to provide the ultimate flexibility by custom building an Xscale product to a customer's specifications," explained Mike Wittig, CyberGuard president and CTO. "CyberGuard can now offer a total turnkey solution, tailored to the customer's exact specifications, while reducing time to market dramatically."
In one example of a recent design win, CyberGuard is using the new product to create a custom solution for a large telecommunications company that is implementing VoIP technology. The product combines software and hardware into a single package and features integrated VoIP ports. In another recent design win, the SE4500 is an integral element of CyberGuard's solution for a global e-commerce company that requires secure remote mobile wireless units.
