AUSTIN, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 7, 2004
Staktek Holdings, Inc. (Nasdaq:STAK), a rapidly growing provider of high-density packaged memory stacking solutions, announced today that James Cady, the company's president and chief executive officer, was named an Austin regional winner of Ernst & Young's 2004 Entrepreneur of the Year(R) competition. Cady will now be considered for Ernst & Young's National Entrepreneur of the Year award, which recognizes the most successful and innovative entrepreneurial business leaders in the country.
"I'm honored to have received such a prestigious award from Ernst & Young," said Cady. "This award is a reflection of the hard work and dedication set forth by each person at Staktek, which has led to the incredible growth and success of the company."
Staktek has developed and delivered intellectual property (IP) and manufacturing services to the memory market since 1990. The company's patented stacking technology is used by original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), silicon manufacturers, memory module manufacturers and contract manufacturers for cost-effective miniaturization of electronic components and systems such as servers, workstations, high-end computing platforms and networking equipment.
Staktek's high-density memory stacking solutions increase the operational performance of electronic components and systems by doubling, tripling or quadrupling memory in the same physical footprint as the underlying packaged component.
Cady joined Staktek in May 1991 and served as executive vice president of engineering until 1996, when he became general manager. He was appointed president and chief executive officer and then chairman of the board of directors in 1999 and 2001, respectively.
Ernst & Young will announce the National 2004 Entrepreneur of the Year(R) at their awards gala in November. The winner of the National award will then be considered for the World Entrepreneur of the Year award, which will be announced in May 2005.
