CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 7, 2004

Major Release Sets Another Milestone of DataPower's "Integration for Management" Strategy for Scaling Operational Complexity of Real-world XML Web Services

DataPower, the original creator and leading provider of intelligent XML-Aware Network (XAN) infrastructure, announced today the availability of firmware release 3.0 for its XML-aware networking hardware: DataPower XS40 XML Security Gateway(TM) and DataPower XA35 XML Accelerator(TM). Informed by DataPower's years of experience with mission-critical XML deployments, the latest version of the award-winning products is another milestone in DataPower's "Managing Operational Complexity of Real-World XML Web Services" strategy.

"Security is a critical feature of enterprise Web services, but so are speed, scalability, and reliability," said James Kobielus, senior analyst Burton Group. "DataPower recognizes that the market isn't standing still, and that more Web services manageability and functionality must be embedded in hardware-based accelerators and appliances."

Firmware release v3.0 includes: Integration with Eclipse and IBM WebSphere Studio Web services development environments; Point-and-click XPath for easy configuration of field-level security; Enhanced MQ support; Patent-pending XML schema validation improvements; Additional security for SOAP with Attachments (SwA); Enhanced user interface (UI) for AAA framework; Full SNMP Enterprise MIB; Dynamic configuration interface as well as numerous other advancements suggested by DataPower's customers. DataPower's unique SOAP management interface (See "DataPower Provides First WS-I Compliant SOAP-Based Interface for Managing XML-Aware Networking Devices", August 12, 2003) has again served as the foundation for the efficient standards-based integration with Eclipse IDE.

"The 3.0 release is a new level of product maturity and makes DataPower's XML-aware network devices easier to configure and manage than ever," said Bill Tao, VP of Engineering at DataPower. "Hundreds of suggestions from our customers and partners have been incorporated into the user interface and management systems, once again setting DataPower apart as the industry leader with the most mature solution for securing XML Web services."

Shipping for almost 2 years, the XS40 XML Security Gateway combines hardened security, wirespeed performance and sophisticated, patent-pending algorithms for XML threat protection and access management, including XML firewall, XDoS protection, SOAP filtering, access control, XML schema validation, digital signatures, field-level XML encryption, XML/SOAP routing and service virtualization. The mature Web services security solution, XS40 has long provided both comprehensive standards support (such as WS-Security 1.0, SAML, XACML, XPath, XKMS, WSDM, SSL, LDAP, and RADIUS), and integration with existing security, management and application infrastructure (such as IBM WebSphere, MQ Series, Tivoli, CA eTrust, CA Unicenter, F5 BIG-IP iControl, Sun Identity Server, Netegrity, Oblix and others). The award-winning XA35 XML Accelerator is the world's fastest XML processing engine, providing XML offload for servers and networks.
