CLEARWATER, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 8, 2004
Digital Lightwave(R), Inc. (Nasdaq:DIGL), a leading provider of optical networking technology and test instruments, today announced the addition of 10 Gigabit Ethernet testing to the popular and successful Network Information Computer(R) (NIC(R)) product line. This capability facilitates the development, installation and monitoring of high speed optical Ethernet circuits used in R&D, manufacturing and field testing applications.
"The 10 Gigabit bandwidth offering increases our product value to the datacom market," said Doyle Mills, Director of Product Marketing at Digital Ligthwave. "As broadband usage and bandwidth growth continues, backbone data rates more commonly move to higher speeds. Our customers are developing and deploying 10-Gigabit Ethernet broadly within their network infrastructures, capitalizing on these bandwidth growth opportunities."
The optical Ethernet interface will feature '10 Gigabit Small Form Factor Pluggable' (XFP) optics. Having pluggable optics provides the unique capability of supporting different wavelengths from a single port as well as simplifying the ordering process and ongoing maintenance throughout the life cycle of the test instrument. The new data rate will support a full complement of Ethernet testing capabilities, as supported in the current NIC's 10/100Meg and GigE interfaces, including RFC 2544, bit error measurements on a payload and a unique IP reflection mode to enable robust end-to-end testing of high speed optical Ethernet connections.
Digital Lightwave's 10 Gigabit Ethernet testing will be available on all new NIC products or as an upgrade to existing NIC products.
