ANAHEIM, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 8, 2004
ZyXEL Communications Inc., a leading provider of broadband access solutions, today announced the ZyAIR G-2000 802.11g Wireless 4-port Router, a highly secure, reliable, and easy-to-use wireless LAN solution for small office/home office (SOHO), small-to-medium businesses (SMBs) and advanced users.
The ZyAIR G-2000's wireless access point, 10/100 Mbps four-port switch, Network Address Translation (NAT) and true firewall features ensure maximum network security and efficiency. Compatible with the IEEE 802.11g wireless standard, data transmission can reach speeds up to 54Mpbs, five times faster than current 802.11b wireless networks.
The ZyAIR G-2000 is the newest addition to ZyXEL's wireless gateway solution family, which features the award-winning ZyAIR B-2000 802.11b version. Delivering enterprise-level features in an easy-to-use and competitively priced package, the ZyAIR G-2000 allows SOHO and SMB users to benefit from the latest high-quality, secure wireless networking technology without making a large investment of time or money. ZyXEL has also incorporated static content filtering to block potential harmful web content through URL blocking.
"The ZyAIR G-2000 is a reflection of our commitment to empower users of all sizes to reap the benefits of today's leading-edge broadband technology while eliminating the risks. Customers have come to rely on ZyXEL to provide dependable, robust products that deliver a high-quality broadband experience," said Munira Brooks, vice president of sales, marketing and business development at ZyXEL.
The ZyAIR G-2000 integrates a wireless access point, 4-port 10/100Mbps switch, NAT router, and two variable antennas into a single compact unit. The full feature set of the ZyAIR G-2000 allows a multiple-user connection to the Internet by using a single IP address and enhances network efficiency and access. Users can immediately benefit from the rich features of the ZyAIR G-2000 while avoiding the added costs of running Ethernet cables.
In addition to supporting 802.11g, the ZyAIR G-2000 is also compatible with the 802.11b wireless standard, which ensures maximum interoperability with other 802.11g and 802.11b-compliant devices.
Based on Stateful Packet Inspection, Denial of Service (DoS), and Attack Alert, the ZyAIR G-2000 provides secure firewall protection, a common first line of defense against hackers, network intruders, and other hazardous threats. With state-of-the-art Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA), IEEE 802.1x user authentication and WEP Key encryption, the ZyAIR G-2000 ensures that a user's data remains safe while being delivered through the 802.11g wireless media waves.
An easy-to-use installation guide and intuitive web-based configuration tool allow users to launch a network in minutes. The ZyAIR G-2000 is powerful enough to satisfy the most demanding network operator while remaining simple enough even for users without deep networking deployment experience.
The ZyAIR G-2000 features dual-removable antennas and antenna diversity functionality to provide seamless coverage throughout a wireless LAN infrastructure and allow users to share network resources and equipment with high link quality for efficient anytime/anywhere network access.
Additional technical features rounding out the ZyAIR G-2000 include UPnP support, DHCP Server/Client support, PPPoE support, 64/128-bit WEP encryption and 802.1x authentication with MD5, TLS, TTLS and PEAP pass-through.
