Reduce Exposure to Legal Risks with C2C's Archive One Policy

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. & READING, United Kingdom--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 10, 2004--Whether a company needs to archive e-mail indefinitely or for a limited period of time, a new product from C2C Systems ensures that internal rules are followed. Archive One Policy, released today, helps organizations enforce long-term e-mail retention and retrieval policies.

With Archive One Policy's detailed rule-set, companies can tailor e-mail archiving standards to match records management policy. For example, the human resources department can have Archive One Policy automatically archive all e-mails over 30 days old, or the sales department can save all 90-day-old e-mails with "quote" in the title to a searchable, indexed archive.

"E-mail archiving requirements aren't as uniform as some vendors would have you believe. Outside of regulation, organizations tend to have slightly different needs for archiving, even down to an individual or department," says Dave Hunt, CEO of C2C. "Archive One Policy's rule-set focuses on tailoring e-mail retention to mid-size organizations, not the other way round."

A corporate-wide archiving policy isn't complete unless e-mails hidden away on local drives can be retrieved and archived as well. Archive One Policy includes a personal storage file (PST) option to discover, index and archive all PST files just like any other e-mail message. This is particularly important, as many PST files may corrupt at critical levels.

"PSTs created with Outlook 2002 and lower versions have a limitation of 2GB. If you do reach 2GB, it renders the PST useless and you have to do some tricky stuff to just be able to look at it," says Dan Gamez, LAN Administrator at Gerald Metals, Inc. in Stamford, CT. "It's important to discover and archive PSTs before they are irretrievable."

Archive One Policy features include:

-- Discover and archive PSTs to reduce risk

-- Multi-criteria rule-set for tailored archiving processes

-- Fast indexing for search and retrieval

-- Secure audit trails

-- Integration with leading storage management software and

hardware

-- User level search and retrieval from e-mail archive

-- Improved performance of Exchange system

Archive One Policy is available at www.c2c.com/download/ for a free 30-day trial. It is part of the Archive One family for Microsoft Exchange, which also includes Archive One Capacity, a single technology capacity management solution to improve Exchange performance, and Archive One Compliance, an archiving application to help organizations meet regulations.
