AUA Annual Meeting

SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 10, 2004

VMBC, LLC, The Vasclip Company, announced today at the American Urological Association (AUA) annual meeting the results of its two-year follow-up study on 78 of the first Vasclip patients. The Vasclip is a small, plastic locking device about the size of a grain of rice that is implanted around the vas deferens to stop the flow of sperm.

The Semen Analysis Post-Procedure (SAPP) study analyzed the ejaculate of men who had been implanted with the Vasclip more than two years ago. The average time to follow-up since Vasclip implantation was two years and four months. All of the men -- 100% -- remain sterile.

"Very simply, the Vasclip works on many different fronts," said Dr. William Utz, Medical Director for VMBC, and a urologist in Edina, Minnesota. "It works clinically, as the original study and this long-term follow-up study shows, and it works for men and their partners as well. This group of men is passionate about the benefits of the Vasclip. I don't recall that I've ever seen a survey on a surgical procedure when 95% of the patient population would have it again, and, frankly, recommend it to family and friends.

"The patients we have been studying are typical of men and couples that choose the Vasclip for permanent sterilization. They've taken the time to learn about the choices, understand the costs along with associated morbidity, and arrive at the same conclusion: men can more easily take responsibility for permanent birth control. What this group has told us about the benefits of the Vasclip underscores the importance and need for this alternative to traditional vasectomy, tubal ligation and long-term use of hormones, such as the Pill and Patch," Dr. Utz said.

The Company also announced the results of a new survey of their original study participants. The voluntary survey of 77 men revealed many interesting statistics about Vasclip patients, including:

-- 29% of Vasclip patients said that their frequency of sexual

intercourse has increased since having the Vasclip procedure.

-- 11% of the men responded that without the Vasclip procedure

their partners would be using the Pill for permanent birth

control.

-- Two men (2.5%) believed that their female partner would have

undergone a tubal ligation if they had not had the Vasclip

procedure.

-- 4% of men responded they might want the procedure reversed in

the future; 29% were unsure if they might want it reversed,

and 67% believed they would not ever want the procedure

reversed.

"The benefits that these original Vasclip study men and couples say they are realizing is why we did this," said Chairman and First Patient, Jim Segermark. "It's obvious that people who chose the Vasclip procedure are our advocates -- not simply people who have undergone a procedure."
