BURLINGTON, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 10, 2004
XOsoft, a leading provider of continuous application availability software solutions, today announced that its WANSync-HA Exchange solution achieved a Clear Choice rating by Network World in a comparative review of disaster recovery products for Microsoft Exchange servers. Having withstood rigorous testing and evaluation, WANSync-HA received the highest overall score of 4.65 out of a possible 5. It was designated the Clear Choice among leading products on the market for backup and recovery of Exchange servers.
According to Network World, "Of the four products tested, only WANSync-HA Exchange prevented any outgoing messages from being lost at the time of failure. The product earned our Clear Choice honors for its ability to fail over quickly without dropping pending messages." The review's summary added, "...it's very clear that the features of an Exchange-specific product, XOSoft's WANSync-HA Exchange, make a big difference in how effective it can be in getting Exchange servers back up and running after a disastrous situation."
"Network World's Clear Choice product review program is recognized as one of the most thorough and comprehensive testing programs in the industry," said Leonid Shtilman, Founder and CEO of XOsoft. "We are pleased that WANSync-HA received the overall highest rating among the products tested. With the most advanced replication technology, unmatched availability and embedded Rewind(TM) technology, WANSync-HA Exchange has proven it is the best product of its kind."
Tailored specifically for Microsoft Exchange, WANSync-HA Exchange is designed to boost the availability of Exchange servers with automatic failover to local or remote replicas in real time. The product's application-aware design proved a standout capability during testing. According to Network World: "WANSync-HA Exchange earns our Clear Choice designation because it adapted quickly to our setup, presented clear Exchange installation-specific options, and required no subsequent intervention to complete the processes of failover detection, failover and bringing our hotsite/back-up site online."
The review pointed out additional technical strengths: "WANSync-HA Exchange can redirect DNS to point to the failover Exchange server, then change it back if necessary at a failback point. Also, it can change the IP addresses so that the remaining live Exchange server can be found if DNS can't (or shouldn't) be changed."
WANSync-HA's automatic failover capability ensures that, should primary Exchange servers fail or be inoperable for any period of time, operations will be transferred automatically and seamlessly to replicas with no IT administrator intervention required. In addition, soft installation avoids inconvenient system shutdowns or reboots, so that users need not be taken offline at any stage. XOsoft markets a set of similar solutions tailored specifically for Microsoft SQL and Oracle Database servers, as well as WANSync Server, which provides high availability and recovery capabilities for any type of file or application server.
The scope of the areas covered during product testing included replication, synchronization and recovery functions. In addition, each product was evaluated on failover performance, time to availability, installation/configuration, management, documentation and support.
