MELVILLE, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 11, 2004
FalconStor Software, Inc. (Nasdaq: FALC), a leading developer of network storage infrastructure software solutions, today announced that Cuesta College has implemented IPStor for data protection and disaster recovery of their storage area network.
Experiencing the failure of a virtual array, and taking over two weeks to restore all the services running on all the attached hosts, Cuesta College was determined to find a solution that provided better data protection. After selecting and implementing IPStor, Cuesta mirrored all of its data and critical services on the SAN between multiple virtual arrays managed by IPStor. This technology investment paid off substantially when Cuesta experienced a similar failure of the same virtual array. What previously took almost one-man month to become operational now only took a few hours. A subsequent partial failure of that same array yielded no interruption at all to services - the only way the College became aware of the hardware failure was through IPStor's log reports.
"The capability of FalconStor products is impressive. But what is even more impressive is their total commitment to the customer, on both a technical and business level," said Jay Chalfant, supervisor of PC and Network Support, Cuesta College. "Whether that be working through the night to restore a lost disk or escalating a business issue to their CEO at 12 midnight, I've never worked with any company that even comes close to this level of responsiveness."
The College's current rate of data growth was approximately 25% a year, with anticipated growth expected to increase slightly, doubling every 3 years. FalconStor storage architects worked diligently with Cuesta College to address its biggest storage issues - backup windows that extended well into the first workday of each week, the inability to perform disaster recovery restores, and the ineffectiveness to restore system "states" successfully.
IPStor is now managing the storage of 20 servers in the SAN, including HP Netserver and Compaq ProLiant systems running applications including Active Directory, DNS, Clustering Services and SQL 2000 over the Windows 2000, Windows Server and HP-UX platforms.
