AUSTIN, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 17, 2004

TippingPoint Technologies Inc. (Nasdaq:TPTI), the leader in intrusion prevention, today announced that Interim HealthCare, the nation's oldest proprietary national organization providing health care personnel, has selected UnityOne Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS) to protect their network against internal and external cyber threats.

According to Bob Diaz, director of IT operations for Interim HealthCare, "The TippingPoint solution has been a welcome addition to our continued security efforts. UnityOne's effectiveness in preventing the spread of various viruses, worms and other network attacks was apparent from the time of our simple installation. While we have multiple layers of protection for our network, the need for intrusion prevention in our environment had been previously identified as a necessary part of our security standards." Satish Movva, CIO for Interim HealthCare added, "We take every step possible to protect both our patient and corporate data, and we feel that TippingPoint's UnityOne was a very valuable addition to that effort."

TippingPoint's UnityOne has prevented approximately 40,000 probes, attacks and other malware since its installation in February.

TippingPoint President and COO James Hamilton said, "Interim HealthCare is on the forefront of cyber security for healthcare organizations. With medical security requirements increasing through regulation and legislation like the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), it is critical that patient's records, medical data and personal identification be as tightly guarded electronically as it is physically. TippingPoint is helping medical, insurance and healthcare organizations secure their networks, enabling them to protect patients' medical information."

TippingPoint's UnityOne provides Application Protection, Performance Protection and Infrastructure Protection at gigabit speeds through total packet inspection. Application Protection capabilities provide fast, accurate, reliable protection from internal and external cyber attacks. Through its Infrastructure Protection capabilities, UnityOne protects routers, switches, DNS and other critical infrastructure from targeted attacks and traffic anomalies. UnityOne Performance Protection capabilities enable customers to throttle non-mission critical applications that hijack valuable bandwidth and IT resources, thereby aligning network resources and business-critical application performance.
