Enhanced Portfolio Management Software and IT Governance Processes
Enable Organizations to Focus Resources, Mitigate Risks
and Control Costs
PlanView Inc., a leading provider of portfolio management and corporate IT governance solutions, today announced general availability of PlanView 7.4, its latest IT portfolio management solution for resource allocation, risk mitigation and cost control. PlanView 7.4 includes enhancements to critical process automation tools and to PRISMS for IT Governance and Resource Management(tm), a pre-built, data-driven approach that enables enterprises to manage corporate and IT governance, regulatory compliance and performance management initiatives.
"Success for portfolio management is dependent on improved governance and process change -- the human barriers to change are the greatest hurdles for companies making the transition," said Melinda-Carol Ballou, senior research analyst at META Group Inc. "The ability to leverage governance process models within a portfolio management system facilitates project optimization and compliance as regulatory issues drive greater scrutiny for G2000 companies and the need for better management and process rigor."
PlanView 7.4 includes significant enhancements to PlanView PRISMS that enrich the solution's ability to support multiple, complex business processes. PRISMS enhancements include:
-- Extended support for demand management, work management,
resource management and IT performance measurement.
-- Inclusion of standardized lifecycle models and enhanced
documentation in the PRISMS database.
-- An easily customized, measurable IT scoreboard for executives
to review and evaluate IT performance.
PlanView 7.4 also includes significant process automation and overall software performance upgrades, allowing organizations to better support their processes and business requirements. Portfolio Management Software enhancements include:
-- A Process Delivery Center to define how work is entered,
categorized and managed within PlanView. Tools within the
Center can be used to create custom PRISMS governance
processes.
-- A Generic Work Request process, allowing users to initiate
work with only basic information. Work could include projects,
programs, service tickets and more.
-- Expanded investment analysis that helps users compare and
analyze data on ROI (return on investment), IRR (internal rate
of return), NPV (net present value) and Payback Period, in
multiple currencies.
-- Extended reporting capabilities for investment analysis,
support tickets and budget variance, and an online HTML
reporting framework that eliminates the need for third-party
reporting tool licenses.
-- Improved access and display of information, including an XML
interface between Microsoft(R) Project 2003 and PlanView, and
the initiation of transition to a .NET architecture.
-- Increased scalability up to 40,000 users.
Together with PlanView's proven Implementation Assurance consulting services and access to the PlanView Direct user community for ongoing training and documentation, the ready-to-use best practices contained within PRISMS work in concert with the process automation of portfolio management software to form the PlanView Governance Delivery Model, through which customers realize value, create positive change and increase organizational maturity.
"PlanView's PRISMS helped us to instill consistency and standards within our IT group, enabling us to gain control of our portfolio management environment so that we could effectively scope our projects, allocate our resources and identify priorities," said John Gilboy, CIO, Sunclipse.
"With PlanView, IT governance and portfolio management work in concert," said Patrick Durbin, PlanView CEO. "Compliance is no longer a drain on productivity. Instead, PlanView provides an integrated platform for managing governance, risk, compliance and performance while delivering a true measure of ROI.
