LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 18, 2004
Mzima Networks announced today the completion of its national expansion project designed to enhance the current 600% annual growth of Mzima's customer base. The 3 city expansion adds Dallas, Chicago and Ashburn, Virginia to the existing PoP cities of Los Angeles and San Jose, giving Mzima Networks a national footprint, and allows Mzima to further its performance-enhancing peering relationships.
The expansion build-out which began in December 2003 duplicates Mzima's existing bandwidth-optimized platform in 3 key domestic markets. The platform, using a combination of advanced route analysis software and direct connectivity to major domestic broadband ISPs, offers customers the fastest IP transit services available.
"This expansion enables Mzima Networks to enhance performance needs in addition to growing our footprint," stated Mike Dell'Anno, President of Sales & Marketing for Mzima Networks. "Mzima's network backbone has been able provide high quality IP connectivity to our customers from day one, but the national footprint will help us capitalize on our peering relationships which ultimately increase network performance."
"Mzima has established itself as a leader in the Asia/Pacific market due to its extensive connectivity with backbones in many countries in the region," said Grant Kirkwood, Chief Technology Officer. "This deployment allows us to strengthen our domestic connectivity as well as connectivity to Europe, giving us a truly global reach."
Mzima's unique architecture allows customer traffic to take the optimal path to the end-user. Although Mzima interconnects with many backbones and broadband ISPs in every city, sometimes higher performance can be obtained by carrying traffic directly on its own OC-48 backbone rather than relying on possibly congested broadband ISP links. By having a variety of possible routes to popular destination, Mzima guarantees high performance and availability for mission-critical Internet applications.
