Elcoteq Joins WiMAX Forum; EMS Company to Manufacture in Accordance with IEEE 802.16 Standard

Elcoteq Network Corp., global provider of electronics manufacturing services (EMS) for the communications technology industry, announced that it has joined the WiMAX Forum(TM). As a member of the WiMAX Forum, Elcoteq is dedicated to supporting its clients and the communications industry by manufacturing products and providing supporting services that adhere to the IEEE 802.16 standard.
Elcoteq, through its acquisition last year of the Marconi plant, Offenburg, Germany, has 40 years of experience developing and manufacturing microwave products and technologies. Elcoteq is one of the only global Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) companies to participate in the WiMAX Forum, and is proactively developing manufacturing, testing, and logistical solutions to address the IEEE 802.16 standard.
The WiMAX Forum is an industry-led, non-profit corporation formed to help promote and certify the compatibility and interoperability of broadband wireless products using the IEEE 802.16 and ETSI HiperMAN wireless MAN specifications. The forum's goal is to accelerate the introduction of these devices into the marketplace. WiMAX Forum Certified(TM) products will be fully interoperable and support Metropolitan Broadband Fixed and Portable Applications.
