SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 18, 2004
NetIQ Corp. (Nasdaq:NTIQ), a leading provider of Systems & Security Management and Web Analytics solutions, today announced the availability of NetIQ Security Manager(TM) 5.0, part of NetIQ's Security Management Suite (see related news release). NetIQ Security Manager is the only product currently on the market that provides a closed-loop approach to incident management by uniting intrusion protection, event management and correlation, as well as log archival and analysis capabilities, into a single, integrated solution.
NetIQ Security Manager now includes a powerful set of capabilities that enables organizations to detect and protect themselves from intrusions, centralize events from many different security point products and correlate all this information to identify blended threats and reduce noise, while integrating real-time incident response with long-term forensics and trending across all areas of the IT infrastructure. In addition, NetIQ Security Manager continues to combine an out-of-the-box Knowledge Base with the ability to create and track organization-specific security knowledge, thus improving overall security knowledge in the organization.
"Despite significant investments in security point solutions such as antivirus products, firewalls and intrusion detection products, security professionals continue to face increasingly sophisticated attacks and a growing number of blended threats that point solutions cannot address in an integrated fashion," said Matt Dircks, vice president of Security Management Products at NetIQ. "NetIQ Security Manager provides holistic, integrated incident management that enables an organization to become more responsive and agile by decreasing exposure time, reducing threat windows and achieving service levels across the enterprise by uniting and leveraging existing point solutions into a closed-loop process."
NetIQ Security Manager includes the following new features and improvements:
-- Integration of powerful log archival, analysis and forensics
capabilities: NetIQ Security Manager is the first product on
the market to combine real-time alerting capabilities with
post-incident forensics analysis.
-- Fault-tolerant and multi-stage correlation engine: NetIQ
Security Manager provides on-the-fly assessment of multiple
events from disparate systems, allowing for quick
identification of blended threats and reduction of false
positives and security event noise in an organization.
-- Wizard-driven correlation rule creation and forensic queries:
NetIQ Security Manager provides the ability to detect many of
the best-known exploits and attacks and makes it easier to
sort through volumes of log data.
-- Web console: The new version of NetIQ Security Manager
provides improved access to manage the current security alerts
in the environment, as well as reporting.
