SAN MATEO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 20, 2004

Digital Impact (Nasdaq:DIGI), the premier provider of online direct marketing solutions for enterprises, today announced that Hans-Peter Brondmo, a Digital Impact fellow, will testify at a Senate hearing that will review the effectiveness of legislative efforts to combat spam and new anti-spam initiatives.

The hearing will be held on Thursday, May 20, 2004 at 9:30 am.

Brondmo will represent Digital Impact and legitimate email marketers by outlining the viewpoint of reputable marketers who, while complying with all the provisions of the CAN-SPAM Act, are still struggling with the onslaught of spam and resulting problems related to the deliverability of legitimate, permission-based email.

"Digital Impact strongly supports federal legislation to respond to the growing menace of spam," said Brondmo. "We believe that though the CAN-SPAM Act is a critical component in the successful resolution of the spam problem, it needs to be complemented by appropriate technological solutions if the battle against spam is to be decisively won."

Brondmo will explain that spam is flourishing because spammers can easily obscure and falsify their identities to sneak past existing filters and avoid accountability. According to Brondmo, it is imperative to make it technically impossible for senders of high volume emails to hide their identities in order to eradicate the scourge of spam.

Brondmo will be joined by representatives from organizations including America Online, Postini and Consumers' Union at the hearing.
