MUNICH & WILSONVILLE, Ore.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 26, 2004
ProDesign, the proven source for hardware-assisted verification platforms for ASIC and SoC development today announced membership in OCP-IP. ProDesign, which offers the CHIPit product family for high end prototyping and emulation platforms, joined the OCP-IP to optimize the verification flow, reduce design time and reduce risks associated with IP, ASIC & SoC design.
"Our customers create complex IPs and SoC designs, that have high performance interfaces," said Gerhard Scherer, President of ProDesign Electronics Corporation. "Such SoC designs benefit from an open, standards-driven interconnect model that allows scalability in delivering the highest performance possible while enabling IP reuse and limiting project risks. The OCP organization addresses this need and has strong support from the industry. Because of the experiences, ProDesign has had over the past months working with customer designs, we have learned, that IP & SoC designers are looking for a development platform that supports standard interfaces and bus systems. By integration with OCP into our Systems we can fulfill these demands and satisfy our customers."
"We at STMicroelectronics are using ProDesign's CHIPit platforms in both Europe and the US and I encouraged them to become a member of the OCP-IP organization and start integrating the OCP socket interface as well as transaction modeling into their CHIPit prototype platforms. Since STMicroelectronics is a member of the OCP Governing Steering Committee want our vendors to also understand what OCP-IP can enable and how we can all work together to address challenges of complex IC development and speed up time to market," said Aldo Cometti, Director of Development at STMicroelectronics in San Diego, California.
"ProDesign is a premiere provider of Emulation & Protoyping Systems for IP and SoC design," said Ian Mackintosh, President of OCP-IP. "We are pleased to have ProDesign adopt and endorse OCP. ProDesign's addition to the membership roster shows the strong support throughout industry for a single socket standard that everyone can use, no matter what their on-chip architecture, or whose processor cores they're using."

About CHIPit
ProDesign is offering a complete line of products for any type of hardware-assisted verification needs, from the initial IP validation at an engineer's desk all the way through to the full chip implementation.
The CHIPit Silver Edition, a one FPGA card, can be installed in the development/verification seat for the individual block validation needs in addition to serving an initial step towards the system integration on larger systems.
The CHIPit Gold Edition, a two FPGA solution from ProDesign, can be used for the rapid prototyping of smaller designs, both for the systems level verification as well as a means to deploy prototypes for software development.
The CHIPit Platinum Edition, a 3-18 FPGA system with flexible interconnects, is able to implement large designs running at local speeds of up to 200 MHz and system-wide speeds of up to 100 MHz.
Customers can start using the technology at any level and adapt their systems as their needs expand. All products use the same software environment and toolset, eliminating the need for a user to learn a new environment nor does the design have to be re-implemented when a platform change is required. The system supports co-emulation with popular simulators and comes fully equipped with a full suite of debugging tools.
About OCP International Partnership
OCP International Partnership (OCP-IP) is a non-profit semiconductor industry consortium formed to administer the support, promotion and enhancement of the Open Core Protocol (OCP) specification. OCP is the only fully supported, openly licensed, complete interface socket for intellectual property (IP) cores. OCP addresses design, verification and testing issues common to IP core reuse in "plug-and-play" system-on-chip (SOC) products. Additional information is available at www.ocpip.org.
