GUILIN, China--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 4, 2004

China Southern Airlines (NYSE:ZNH) (HKSE:1055), www.cs-air.com/en, the largest airline in The People's Republic of China, is pleased to announce that it is now selling e-ticket admission to many of the nation's leading leisure vacation destinations.

In cooperation with some of the nation's AAAA-rated scenic spots along the Lijiang River in Guilin, China Southern Airlines is launching electronic travel package tickets that offer both airline ticketing with admission to many of Guilin's best scenic spots.

"Passengers holding these package tickets will enjoy considerably preferential prices when touring the scenic spots in Guilin such as Yuzi Paradise, Guanyan and Earthly Paradise," said Mr. Li Kun, Vice President, China Southern Airlines.

Mr. Li added that, "this new cooperation will improve the process in which these leisure destinations have partnered with travel agencies in the past and develop new product opportunities for the airline while developing new customers and expanded tourists for the world-famous Guilin vacation destinations."

The scenery of Guilin has been called "the finest under heaven." Situated in the northeast of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Guilin City is South China's shining pearl, with verdant mountains, elegant waters, magnificent crags and fantastic caverns.

Guilin has a history of more than 2,000 years. In the 6th year of Yuanding during the reign of Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty (111 B.C.), Guilin was a county, called Shi An County, and from the Song Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty, it was the political, economic and cultural center of Guangxi.

Belonging to the subtropical region, Guilin enjoys a mild climate with sufficient rainfall. Du Fu, a very famous poet of Tang Dynasty, so said of its climate, "When it is scorching hot everywhere in the Five Ridges, only Guilin has temperate weather."

Guilin was originally a vast expanse of sea until about 190 million years ago, when, owing to the movement of the earth crust, the whole area rose and became land. The limestone, weathered and eroded by water, became today's fantastic stone forests, peaks, underground streams and caves, thus giving unique features to Guilin's scenery.

The mountains in Guilin, rising abruptly from the ground, stand in various stately shapes. Moreover, they have in them a great number of colorful caves. These mountains with strangely shaped peaks and caves of unique formation, together with the crystal-clear rivers that surround the city, characterize Guilin's scenery and have brought it International fame.

Lijiang River, a picturesque river well known throughout China and around the globe, is at its most beautiful starting from Guilin to Yangshuo -- a distance of 83 km. Winding its way amidst the mountains and through villages. the Lijiang River adds a great charm to the picture-like landscape of Guilin, where vacationers can see mountains with fantastic peaks, green and clear waters, and festoon-like fields.

Guilin also abounds in historical relics. Stone carving alone amounts to approximately 2,000 pieces. Of all the scenic spots in the city, Pu Tuo Hill, Crescent Moon Hill and Folded Brocade Hill possess the greatest number of these carvings. But crowning all is the Dragon Refuge Cave, which, as it is lined with stelae, is properly called "Guilin Stelae Forest."

The largest airline in The People's Republic of China for the past 25 years, China Southern Airlines (www.cs-air.com/en) connects more than 80 cities around the globe. Major business and vacation destinations served in China include: Beijing, Chengdu, Guangzhou, Guilin, Hong Kong, Kunming, Shanghai, Shenzhen and Wuhan, as well as international service, including: Amsterdam, Bangkok, Fukuoka, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Islamabad, Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta, Los Angeles, Manila, Melbourne, Moscow, Osaka, Penang, Phnom Penh, Seoul, Singapore, Sydney and Tokyo.
